Historic Cooperation Agreement Signed to Empower Youth and Advance Afro-Descendant Rights Monte video, Uruguay / Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — July 15, 2025 —The Latin America and the Caribbean Afro-Descendant Parliamentary Group and the International Youth Parliament today signed a landmark Cooperation Agreement during an online ceremony convening parliamentary leaders, youth representatives, and regional partners.
This Agreement establishes a framework for joint action to promote the rights, participation, and empowerment of young people, with particular attention to Afro-descendant and marginalized communities across Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond. Aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Pact for the Future, the Youth Declaration, and the ICPD Programme of Action, the partnership aims to: Foster dialogue and exchange between parliamentarians and youth leaders;Support the development and implementation of inclusive policies and legislation; Build capacity and advocate for meaningful youth engagement in decision-making processes;Promote shared accountability for commitments that leave no one behind.
